Fox DHX2 (2021–2025) DIY Rebuild Kit
A complete toolset designed to service the Fox DHX2 shock from 2021 to 2025, with all the specialty tools needed for a home rebuild. If you already have most of the tools, just buy them individualy on the website. It's quite easy and quick to navigate the individual tools and find what you need. The base kit comes with everything to do a 200 hours service, if you want to open everything (quite useless if you have no leaks from the static seals), you can select the options you want in extra.
I highly recommand to buy this kit from MTB-Hydraulics (a lot cheaper than fox). They always worked very good for me and there is an option for almost free untracked shipping (like 3$).
Never try to slide the sealhead back into the shaft from the eyelet side, you will destroy the U-cup. Always do it from the piston side. Check out this link 3:35 for the piston opening, Simon from MTB-hydraulics, hilarious dude opens the shock the proper way. I recommend watching his videos, they are very good and made simple for home mechanics.
The 2021-2025 is very hard to bleed, take your time, bleed with the rubber glove technique for 15-20 minutes, let it rest for a night. Close the high speed compression adjuster, get oil passing from both sides with the glove and re-open it. Sometimes somes bubbles are stuck there. The bleed might not be perfect but it will work.
It's also a bit hard the close the sealhead, insert the piston first in the inner cylinder, the make sure that the sealhead is seated on the piston and close the shock.
You can also use a 9mm spanner to open the allen bleed screw in the middle of the ifp while you screw the Sealhead back in, some bubbles might come out.

What You Still Need:
This kit doesn’t include general shop supplies or tools used across multiple shocks. For that, visit our Essential Tools page.
- Bench vise
- Knipex 10-inch pliers (mandatory, adjustable or regular wrenches will damage the seal head)
- Shock oil + seal kit (Fox DHX2-specific)
- Air to shock pump fill adapter
- Torque wrench or luggage scale
-
Do not forget to get yourself a schrader valve core tool!
- Essential Tools (You can't release the pressure in the damper without the valve core tool)
This kit doesn’t include the Trunnion Shock Vise Holder/Torque Tool which is needed if you have a trunnion mounted shock (M10 Screw on each side instead of a standard eyelet).
Important Safety Notes:
- Depressurize the damper IFP before opening.
- Open the bleed port slowly to ensure there’s no trapped pressure.
- Do not proceed with disassembly until pressure is 100% verified as released, risk of injury or damage is high.
- Follow our IFP Depth Tool Tutorial to complete your rebuild properly.
About Our Tools:
All components are printed in high-precision PETG or Nylon to tolerances of ±0.01 mm. Every tool is tested in-house on real shocks. Learn more about how we build these tools on the design process page.
When to Use This Kit:
This kit is for full damper or IFP services, especially when you have oil contamination, cavitation, or you’re replacing internal parts. If your shock only needs a coil swap or to refill the IFP, you don't need this. This is for a 50h or 200h service.
⚠️ This rebuild kit is designed for DIY users who have basic technical confidence and a safe workspace. By purchasing or using this kit, you acknowledge the risks and agree to our terms of service.
