FOX DHX RC2 / RC4Β Full DIY Rebuild Toolkit
Complete rebuild kit for FOX DHX RC2 and RC4 shocks (2010β2015). Includes shaft clamps, damper body clamp, and everything you need to replace dynamic seals and reset IFP depth. These shocks are built strong, and this kit covers both shaft diameter variations.
Do not forget to get yourself a schrader valve core tool!Β
- Essential Tools (You might need to replace the core if leaking)
Whatβs Included and Optional
- DHX Shaft Clamp (1/2" + 5/8") : choose the correct one depending on your shaft size (1/2" β 12.7mm, 5/8" β 15.8mm)
- Damper Body + Reservoir Clamp : optional, only needed if leaking from body or piggyback
- IFP Depth Tool (Graduated) : to precisely reset IFP height after bleeding
Seal Kits (Never included in the kits)
- MTB Hydraulics Seal Kit for 1/2" Shaft
- MTB Hydraulics Seal Kit for 5/8" Shaft
- Anso Seal Kit for 1/2" Shaft (includes valve core)
- Anso Seal Kit for 5/8" Shaft (includes valve core)
Special Tool Warning
The reservoir cap is recessed and narrow. A standard wrench will not fit. You will need a 32 mm headset cone wrench from Park Tool or similar narrow wrench. This one might work (not Park Tool one not tested): Park Tool HCW-15 or Bikehand 32mm Cone Wrench. You can also open it with a vise grip (I did) but I damaged the paint on the cap a bit.
IFP Pressure and Depth
IFP Pressure:Β around 160 psiΒ
Measure IFP Depth from the flat surface, not the raised rim:
- 10.500 x 3.500 = 1.100"
- 9.500 x 3.000 = 1.020"
- 8.750 x 2.750 = 0.980"
- 8.500 x 2.500 = 0.940"
- 7.875 x 2.250 = 0.900"
- 7.875 x 2.000 = 0.860"
- 7.500 x 2.000 = 0.860"
Important Tips
- Β Most problems come from dynamic seals or IFP seal leaks
- Β If rebound doesnβt work, make sure to do a good bleed and IFP pressure are correct.Just that can bring back the shock to life.
- Β Donβt unthread the piggyback unless itβs leaking, itβs risky, and you need the right tool!
- Β Always clean shafts with isopropyl alcohol and wrap with dry paper to increase friction before using shaft clamps!
- Β Always heat eyelets or Loctited parts before removal
