Do you need the small shaft clamps?

FOX DHX Damper Body + Reservoir Clamp

Made for servicing the outer damper tube or reservoir on any generation of FOX DHX coil shock, including the older RC2, RC4, and the latest models. But let’s be clear: you probably don’t need this tool.

⚠️ Warning:
Only use this clamp if your shock is leaking from the reservoir or damper body. These parts are factory-sealed with red Loctite. If they’re not leaking, don’t open them. If you do need to open them, don't forget to use heat to break the loctite.

Β When You Might Actually Need It

  • Visible oil leaking from the reservoir or damper body
  • Damper body came loose while trying to remove the sealhead
  • You’re repairing known damage to the base valve or reservoir

In nearly all other cases, a full DHX rebuild does not require touching the damper body or reservoir. The static seals in those areas rarely fail unless mishandled or over-torqued during disassembly.

Why You Probably Don’t Need It

Most FOX DHX problems come from dynamic parts: shaft seals, IFP o-rings, and Schrader valves. The reservoir and damper tube are not common failure points unless the shock has been physically damaged.

What It Includes

  • Dual-slot clamp for both damper body and reservoir
  • Compatible with DHX RC2, RC4, and all newer DHX coil models
  • Use in a bench vise with Soft Vise Jaws for maximum protection

Setup & Safety Tips

  • Clean all clamping surfaces thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol
  • Wrap tubes in dry paper or towel before clamping
  • Clamp gently, aluminum tubes crush easily under high pressure
  • Do not attempt this service unless you’re 100% sure you need to
