FOX DHX Shaft Clamp – All Years (1/2" + 5/8")

Dual-size shaft clamp for FOX DHX coil shocks, covering both 1/2" shafts and older 5/8" variants (RC2, RC4, VAN RC). Designed to hold the damper shaft in a bench vise during service.

Covers both shaft diameters used across DHX generations: 1/2" (≈12.7 mm) and 5/8" (≈15.8 mm).

What it does
  • Securely clamps the damper shaft in a bench vise.
  • Allows eyelet removal / installation.
  • Provides access to the rebound circuit for inspection or service.

This is the correct way to hold a DHX shaft without marring or crushing it.

When to use this clamp
  • Removing the eyelet for seal or rebound-side service.
  • Rebound feels stuck, too slow, or inconsistent.
  • The eyelet loosened unintentionally during damper work.
Do you need a bullet tool?

No. DHX shafts are large and chamfered. The U-cup seal installs easily by hand. Just pay attention to the seal lips so they don’t fold.

Setup tips
  • Clean the shaft with isopropyl alcohol.
  • Wrap with dry paper towel before clamping.
  • Apply light heat to the eyelet if Loctite is present.
  • Clamp snug only, no need for brute force.
Bleeding tip: No syringe needed. The glove method works very well on DHX thanks to the vertical valve layout.
