FOX VAN / Marzocchi Bomber CR (2011–2026) Full DIY Rebuild Toolkit
A complete DIY rebuild toolkit for FOX VAN and Marzocchi Bomber CR coil shocks from 2011 to 2026. Both shocks share the same internal architecture and service procedure. This kit lets you perform a proper rebuild at home, including oil service, seal replacement, and high-pressure IFP filling using a needle system (up to 300 psi).
If you already own some of these tools, you can purchase them individually. Nothing here is locked behind a bundle.
What it does
- Enables a full rebuild of FOX VAN and Bomber CR shocks (oil + seals).
- Allows accurate IFP depth setting after bleeding.
- Supports high-pressure needle filling of the IFP chamber (300 psi).
- Provides proper clamping solutions without damaging shafts or piggyback components.
With basic hand tools plus this kit, you can service these shocks correctly at home without shop-only fixtures.
Compatibility
- FOX VAN coil shocks (2011–2026).
- Marzocchi Bomber CR coil shocks (all years).
- Identical internal layout and service procedure for both models.
Required tools (NOT included)
- Needle air fill adapter (mandatory for IFP pressurization and depressurization).
Only the pellet retainer tool is included in this kit. Needle adapters, buying links, and full setup instructions are covered here: Needle Fill Tool Guide .
What’s included
-
VAN / Bomber Shaft Clamp Kit : includes a 0.5" shaft clamp and a piggyback shaft clamp.
- Piggyback clamp is rarely needed unless opening the base valve or fixing a piggyback leak.
- Can also be used to unthread the damper tube if ever required (rare).
- IFP Depth Tool (Graduated) : precise and repeatable IFP depth setting after bleeding.
- Metal Pellet Retainer Tool : required for high-pressure FOX piggybacks (plastic versions will fail).
Important setup notes
- IFP pressure: 300 psi (needle fill only, no Schrader).
- Metal pellet retainer tool is mandatory. FOX piggybacks require slightly higher pellet torque (1.6 Nm MAX).
- IFP depth: 35 mm (1.38") for most models, or 39.4 mm (1.55") for 3.5" stroke shocks.
- Do not open the damper body or piggyback unless actively leaking; there is little benefit and cosmetic damage is likely.
- Always release IFP pressure with the needle fill tool BEFORE disassembly.
- Clean all parts with isopropyl alcohol. Wrap shafts with dry paper towel when clamping to increase friction.
Extra tips
- You usually don’t need to clamp the main shaft; clamping the eyelet is sufficient unless the mid-valve is extremely tight.
