Fox Fork Damper Ultimate Clamp Set — Angled 20° | GRIP + FIT + All Shaft Sizes
The same complete Fox damper clamp set, angled 20° to the left so long damper shafts and bodies clear the center of the vise. Includes clamps for both FIT and GRIP damper bodies, plus 8mm and 10mm shaft clamps covering every Fox damper and air shaft.
Prefer it straight? The standard Ultimate Clamp Set covers the exact same sizes at the same price.
Why 20° Angled
- The 20° left tilt pushes long parts off to the side instead of straight down into the vise body or the bench edge
- Fox damper shafts and air shafts are long — the angle gives you room to work without fighting for clearance
- Same clamp diameters, same coverage, same price as the straight set
What It Does
- Securely clamps both FIT and GRIP damper bodies during bleeding and disassembly
- 8mm shaft clamp covers older FIT and some GRIP/VVC forks
- 10mm clamp fits most Fox air shafts and modern damper shafts
- Allows full sealhead access, rebound assembly removal, and shim stack service
Compatibility Notes
- Fits Fox 32, 34, 36, 38, and 40 forks
- Compatible with all GRIP (1, 2, X, X2, VVC) and FIT (RC2, FIT4) dampers
- Step-Cast and FIT Terralogic are around ~25mm (rare)
- Terralogic dampers use cone wrenches extensively and may not be fully serviceable
Tech Notes
– GRIP dampers use an IFP (easier to service)
– FIT dampers are bladder-style and take longer to bleed (see Bleeding Tips)
– Both require Fox 4wt damper oil
– Older FIT RC2 used 10wt Red (discontinued) → use 10wt Green instead
Bleeding Tips for FIT Dampers
- Use a bare hose from a brake bleed kit and insert it into the LSC needle hole to gravity-bleed the bladder chamber
- For FIT RC2: a large 8mm ID tube works well around the top-cap assembly
- A kitchen funnel actually works surprisingly well (photo coming soon)
- Remove the screw, add oil, cycle slowly, squeeze bladder to purge air
- Never open the bladder unless damaged, very difficult to re-seal properly
Recommended Extras
⚠️ Warning: Always clean with isopropyl alcohol and wrap in a single layer of paper towel to reduce the required clamping force.
