A complete toolset designed to service the Fox DHX2 shock from 2016 to 2020. This includes all the specialty tools needed for a 200-hour rebuild at home. If you already own some tools, buy only what you need, each tool is available individually on the site.

Highly Recommended:

Use this cheap and reliable seal kit from MTB-Hydraulics:

Includes all seals needed and ships via untracked mail for only a few dollars.

Sealhead Removal Tip:

Do not open the piston nut, this often causes shaft failure. Instead, remove the sealhead from the eyelet side (only possible if using the o-ring style sealhead from the MTB-Hydraulics kit). If you're using the Fox kit, you'll need to use the bullet tool from the piston side.

⚠️ If You Broke the Shaft Tip:

The shaft may still be usable. You can install a thin profile 1/4-28 thread nut with red Loctite if there’s enough thread left. Just go to any industral store and they the nut will probably cost around 1$. If the break is too low, you’ll need a new shaft. Here is a link to a shaft, it's around 20$, be carefull to choose the good shaft: X2 9mm Shaft Search

Optional Add-ons:
You’ll Also Need (Not Included):
  • Bench vise
  • Knipex 10-inch pliers (recommended)
  • Adjustable wrench (only if sealhead is not overtightened)
  • Shock oil + seal kit (DHX2 compatible)
  • Torque wrench or luggage scale
  • Foot pump with balloon fitting (to eject the IFP)

Visit our Essential Tools page for these.

IFP Removal Tip:

Use a compressor on the bleed port (after draining oil), or use a foot pump with a balloon adapter and tape to blow the IFP out from the reservoir. Cover it with a rag, it can shoot out fast.

Safety Reminders:
  • Depressurize the damper before opening
  • Open the bleed port slowly to release trapped pressure
  • Use the IFP Depth Tool guide to set depth accurately
