RockShox M5 IFP Puller Tool
Puller tool for extracting the IFP (Internal Floating Piston) from newer RockShox shocks that use an M5-threaded bleed port.
Plastic Thread Warning
Do not overtighten. Some IFPs use plastic threads which strip easily.
Screw in gently until fully seated, nothing more.
What It Does
This tool safely extracts the IFP from RockShox shocks that use an M5-threaded bleed port.
On these models, the piggyback is bolted on (not threaded into the damper body) and the IFP must be pulled straight out.
- If your shock’s IFP is retained by two small screws, this tool is usually required
How It Works
Thread the tool gently into the M5 bleed port, then pull straight back.
The tip interfaces with the plastic insert inside the IFP (typically Torx T10-shaped) and releases it cleanly.
Do You Really Need It?
Not strictly.
You can use a regular M5 screw and pull with pliers, but it’s awkward and easy to slip and damage the walls.
This tool offers better grip, cleaner pulls, and less risk, especially if you service shocks more than once.
Safety Notes
- Always depressurize both air spring and damper before opening the shock
- Never attempt to pull the IFP if pressure is present
- Follow the official RockShox service manual for your exact model
