Β Fox GRIP Damper Body Clamp All Years

Works with GRIP 1, GRIP 2, GRIP 2 VVC,Β  this is the clamp you need to safely work on any Fox GRIP damper.

Not needed for the X and X2 but it works.

⚠️ Warning: Never clamp the GRIP damper body directly in a vise. This tool prevents ovalization and protects the thin aluminum tube from permanent damage.

Improper clamping can cause compression internals to jam or the IFP to leak, always clean the damper body with isopropyl alcohol and wrap in paper before using this clamp. See the full usage manual here: How to Clamp Large diameters.

Β What It Does

  • Securely holds your GRIP damper body for bleeding, oil changes, or compression assembly removal
  • Essential if you're servicing your damper, replacing oil, or inspecting the internals, revalving the compression assembly or want to acces the mid valve.
  • If you want to change the compression assembly needle seal (leak to the outside of the fork only) or the rebound side seals or want to replace the sealhead, you will also need a 8mm (compression assembly) and 10mm clamp for clamping on the main damper shaft.
  • Compatible with all modern GRIP damper formats (GRIP 1, 2, 2 VVC)
  • The GRIP X and GRIP X2 have integrated clamping flats on the damper.
  • Pairs perfectly with the Basic Shaft Driver or Deluxe Driver

Β Compatibility Notes

  • Fits ALL GRIP dampers of any year in Fox 32, 34, 36, 38, and 40 forks
  • Does not fit Fox forks with taper-cast lowers because we don't have the lower leg shaft driver supported yet,Β support coming soon
  • Make sure you have a proper top cap socket or a Fox 6-in-1 wrench to remove the damper because the top cap socket can vary between 26mm and 28mm.
  • Not certain for the fox 40 but with the 6 in 1 tool you're golden! like this one to remove the damper from the stanchions.
Important Oil Compatibility Note:
GRIP dampers are designed to ingest lower leg oil over time. This means the oil you put into the lowers must match the damper oil.

Use Fox 4wt damper fluid in both the damper and the lowers unless you're specifically tuning for more support. Heavier oils (like 5wt or 10wt) can slightly stiffen damping feel, but 20wt is too heavy and will ruin the damper feel over time.

Never mix 4wt in the damper and 20wt in the lowers, it will eventually thicken and increase damping maybe too much for, or you might like it, who knows ahahah. If you fork feels too plush and lacks damping, try putting some 10wt oil instead next time before doing a full revalve.

Disclaimer: Do not attempt damper rebuilds unless you understand how to remove the damper assembly and safely clamp components. Always clean with isopropyl alcohol, wrap with paper, and torque components properly. For home mechanics only, not intended for commercial use. See our Terms of Service.
