Coil Shock SAG Clips - Clip-on Markers for Accurate Coil Sag Measurement
Clip these onto your coil shock shaft to temporarily act as a sag ring to measure your sag. Multiple sizes available to match common shaft diameters.
How to Use
- Snap the correct size clip onto the shock shaft (between the coils) at full extension.
- Sit on the bike to compress the suspension and measure your sag using a Rear Shock SAG Tool, Finger Caliper, or visually by eye.
- Once measured, remove the clip carefully. Do not leave it in place while riding.
Shaft Sizes Available
We offer all common coil shock shaft sizes:
- 8mm: Some older Cane Creek DB IL and Γhlins shocks
- 9mm: Fox DHX2 (2016β2020 only)
- 9.5mm / 3/8": Cane Creek Kitsuma, newer Cane Creek CS and Fox DHX2 (2021β2025)
- 10mm: Γhlins TTXm.1 and 2
- 12mm: Some EXT V3, Fast Fenix
- 12.7mm / 1/2": Fox DHX/(New DHX2 2026+), RockShox Vivid/Super Deluxe, Marzocchi Bomber CR
- 13mm: Formula MOD
- 14mm: EXT V4, DVO Jade/Jade X, MRP Hazzard
- 15.9mm / 5/8" (Beefy!!) : Old Fox DHX RC4 (~2013)
β οΈ Fit & Removal Warnings
- These clips are 10mm thick. Make sure your spring has enough space between the coils to fit them without force.
- Do not use on tunnel-style shock frames (e.g. Rocky Mountain Altitude, Santa Cruz, Forbidden), you may not be able to remove the clip afterward without taking the shock off the bike.
- On some tightly wound steel springs (Fox Steel Springs (Non-SLS)), removal can be very tricky. If you can't fit at least 15mm of space between your coils,Β do not use this tool.
- I did it to set my sag but to be honest, just use your bottom-out bumper as a sag ring
Alternative Measuring Methods
- Use the Finger Caliper for direct measurement between coils
- Try the Tunnel Finger Caliper for recessed shock designs
- Use the Rear Shock SAG Tool for general measurements
- Pull your bottom-out bumper to the top of the shaft and use it as a temporary sag ringΒ
Also, if you want all the clip sizes and the custom base I designed to hold them, you can get it at the bottom of this page. Just note that it doesn't include the 5/8'' size. I know that can be a bit confusing, but honestly, you'll probably never see a DHX RC4 2013 shock in your life. If you do and still want the base, just send me a message or include a note. I can include the 5/8'' clip separately on the side for free, but it wonβt fit in the base without making the whole thing much bigger for no good reason.
The big display stand has all most common shaft sizes for coil shocks 3D printed under it.
