RockShox Boxxer 2015–2018 DIY Damper Rebuild Kit (RC & Team)
Everything you need to safely hold and open your Boxxer fork for damper service. Includes a 35mm stanchion clamp so you can safely remove the fork from the bike and actually hold it in a bench vise, essential for this job.
What's Included
- 35mm Shaft Clamp : safely holds the Boxxer stanchions for damper service
Optional Add-On
- 10mm Shaft Clamp : only needed if you're revalving the Boxxer Team Charger damper
What You Need
- A full set of open-end wrenches/spanners
- Circlip pliers and long picks
- Torque wrench or luggage scale setup
- Good lighting and patience, lots of small parts inside
⚠️ Important: Boxxer RC uses an Open Bath Motion Control damper. You must fill it with the exact amount of oil or you will get hydraulic lock or no damping at all.
Oil Volume Notes
Boxxer RC uses a huge amount of oil for the open-bath system, about 290 mL of damper oil.
- See oil volumes here
- Always double-check your fork year and configuration
Clamp Tips
- Use the 35mm clamp on the stanchion so you can torque the damper body out
- Do not clamp the damper body directly without the 35mm shaft clamps, it’s too fragile
- If revalving the Charger mid-valve, use the 10mm clamp on the damper shaft
Manuals & Guides
-
2011 Boxxer R2C2 Manual (PDF)
- For the Oil level, get a measuring tape and it should be 173mm from the top instead of a volume in mL.
- Boxxer RC Manual (PDF)
- Boxxer Team Manual (PDF)
- Velodrop Oil Chart
Pro Tip:
These dampers aren’t hard to service, but the stanchion rotates easily unless held securely. The 35mm clamp makes the job clean, safe, and way easier.
