Low Torque Pellet Retainer Tool
Lightweight plastic tool designed for soft-pellet IFP / bladder systems found mainly in Cane Creek shocks. Used during needle fills to gently retain the pellet and prevent air loss while pressurizing the bladder or reservoir.
Pellet retainer DIY tip
You can make one yourself very easily using a Dremel and a 4 mm Allen key. It’s much cheaper than buying one. We do sell plastic and metal versions, but they’re time-consuming to make by hand. DIY is highly recommended.
Compatible with
- Cane Creek DB Inline Shocks
Not compatible with
- Shocks using hard IFP pellets that require high torque, use the metal version
- FOX DPX2 (metal required)
- FOX DPS (metal required)
- No pellet retainer needed for: Öhlins, EXT, PUSH, FAST, Cane Creek Kitsuma, or DB CS
How it works
The tool gently holds the pellet in place while you pressurize the system using a needle. Once pressure is set and the needle is snug, rotate the tool just enough to seal the system before removing the needle.
You do not need to tighten hard, finger pressure is sufficient.
Important usage notes
- Do not overtighten. A tiny rotation is enough, this is plastic and will break under high torque.
- Includes a top guide ring to prevent the needle from going too deep and damaging the bladder or needle.
- Use only with needle-fill systems (not pump-threaded air ports).
- Always clean oil residue from the sealing area before tightening.
