FOX FLOAT X Sealhead Pin Socket (2022+)

This is the specialized two-pin socket used to open the sealhead housing on FOX FLOAT X shocks (2022+).

Pro Tip: This is one of the few Fox shocks where a soft-jaw pliers can work instead of the pin-socket but this tool ensures consistent rebuild quality.

 What It Does

Lets you unthread the Sealhead bearing housing cleanly, without damaging the soft aluminum tabs.

 Compatibility

  • Fits FOX FLOAT X shocks (2022+)
  • Does not fit DPX2 or other FOX models
  • Does fit the marzocchi Bomber Air

 How to Use

FLOAT X shocks with 37.5mm through 45mm travel use a different bearing housing assembly than 47.5-75mm versions.

  • For 37.5-45mm travel shocks: use a 32 mm wrench to unthread the bearing housing counter-clockwise
  • Remove the travel spacer plate first before applying any torque
  • If using soft-jaw pliers (e.g., Knipex), clamp gently on the X-shaped reinforcement, marks are cosmetic only
  • Pin socket is strongly recommended for rebuild accuracy and repeat use
  • No 3/8" drive port: use our luggage scale torque calculator instead of a torque wrench
⚠️ Warning: Never force the sealhead, these threads are shallow and soft. Use heat if needed and apply slow, even torque.

 Safety Notes

  • Always release air spring pressure before opening the air can
  • Ensure both pressures are fully discharged before removing the rebound housing
