Cane Creek HELM (Air) Fork – 200h Air Shaft Rebuild

Complete air spring rebuild service for Cane Creek HELM MKI and MKII forks. Replace dynamic seals, clean the air spring assembly, and restore full sensitivity and performance.

Don't forget to put SRAM Butter on the lower-leg stanchion bushings and inside the dust wiper seals, the secret to almost no stiction.

What This Covers
  • Full teardown of the air shaft assembly (beyond lower-leg service)
  • Works on both HELM MKI and HELM MKII forks
  • Handles Cane Creek’s unusual 8mm air shaft
  • Includes a precision 8mm shaft clamp
  • Includes the 35mm dust wiper seal tool
  • You can upgrade to the 8mm + 10mm combo clamp to also service the damper
What You’ll Need (Not Included)
  • Isopropyl alcohol + lint-free rags
  • Torque wrench (2-20 Nm range)
  • 22mm socket (for MKI negative sealhead)
  • Snap-ring pliers (for MKII circlip)
  • Slickoleum or SRAM Butter
  • 20mm crowfoot wrench (required for MKII sealhead)
  • A narrow 8" or 10" Knipex may work, let us know!

Pro Tips
  • Depressurize the fork fully and equalize chambers before disassembly, this is a dual-chamber fork
  • Grease all new seals lightly to reduce break-in friction
  • Don't forget to put SRAM Butter inside wipers + bushings for near-zero stiction
  • Clamp the full diameter, and use isopropyl + paper wrap for better grip
About the 8mm Shaft

HELM forks are one of the few modern forks with 8mm air shafts. This reduces friction dramatically but can make the fork slightly more flexible or maybe not! Cane Creek’s engineering is excellent and they may have compensated elsewhere.

⚠️ Important Notes
– Do not overtighten anything, the seals rely on O-rings, not torque
– Use alcohol + paper to maximize shaft-clamp grip
– Ensure your 22mm socket fits perfectly (MKI only)
– Never tap directly on the center shaft, support everything properly
