Cane Creek 8 mm + 9.5 mm Dual Shaft Clamp
The ideal shaft clamp for Cane Creek coil shocks, compatible with both legacy 8 mm and upgraded 9.5 mm damper shafts.
Important Safety Warning
All shocks are pressurized systems. Always depressurize both the air spring and damper before any disassembly.
Clean the shaft thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and wrap it in a layer of paper towel before clamping.
Clamp only in the center of the shaft, never near the ends, threads, or seals.
What It Does
This dual-size clamp securely holds either 8 mm or 9.5 mm Cane Creek coil damper shafts in a bench vise during service.
This tool is not designed for air shocks. For air shocks, use horizontal wide shaft clamps that grip farther out on the shaft, past the eyelet.
Why You Need Both Sizes
Even if you know the model year of your shock, you may not know the shaft diameter.
Many older Cane Creek DB Coil shocks have been upgraded to 9.5 mm shafts during rebuilds, and this is not always documented.
This dual clamp avoids surprises and safely covers:
- Original 8 mm Cane Creek DB Coil and early Kitsuma models
- Updated or OEM 9.5 mm shaft replacements (very common in shops)
Usage Tips
- Clean the shaft thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol (multiple passes)
- Wrap the shaft with a thin paper towel layer to increase grip and prevent marring
- Clamp only in the center of the shaft
- Read the full shaft clamping manual
Compatible Shocks
- Cane Creek DB Coil (all years)
- Cane Creek Kitsuma Coil (8 mm or 9.5 mm)
- Any other shock using 8 mm or 9.5 mm damper shafts
Final Reminder & Disclaimer
If the shaft does not sit perfectly in the groove, stop and remeasure.
Improper clamping will cause shaft slippage or surface damage.
This tool is intended for personal use by home mechanics. Incorrect technique or over-tightening can damage your shaft. By purchasing this tool, you agree to our Terms of Service.
