⚠️ Important Safety Warning
Always depressurize air and damper circuits before disassembly. If your shock or fork is still pressurized, removing the eyelet, sealhead or opening the damper in general can cause injury or damage.
9 mm Shaft Clamp
Designed specifically for 9 mm damper shafts, found on 2016-2020 FOX X2 shocks. Not suitable for air shocks with the eyelet still attached. This clamp is most useful for coil shocks or fork dampers where the shaft is directly accessible.
⚠️ The photo with the piston shows the DHX2 3/8″ clamp (not the 9 mm).
What It Does
This clamp safely grips 9 mm damper shafts in your bench vise.
- Fits: FOX DHX2 (2016–2020) : direct clamp
- Works with: FOX Float X2 (2016–2020) only if you use the special “open from below” technique but doesn't fit otherwise (Too Narrow)
- ❌ Not compatible: with later model X2s (2021+)
Tip: The special technique lets you open early Float X2 models without removing the eyelet, just clamp lower on the shaft once you’ve unthreaded the damper tube internally.
Setup Instructions
- Clean the shaft thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol, no oil, no residue
- Wrap the shaft in a dry paper towel to increase friction
- Clamp with even vise pressure, avoid overtightening
- Heat Loctited components before turning

Match Your Torque: Use our luggage scale torque calculator to estimate torque on the eyelet or piston before applying force.
⚠️ Reminder: Improper cleaning, oily shafts, or using the wrong clamp size will lead to slippage and clamp damage. If it doesn’t fit easily, double-check your shaft diameter and ensure the clamp is fully seated.
