5/8″ Shaft Clamp
Designed for true 5/8″ (15.875 mm) damper shafts. This size is extremely rare and only found on a handful of legacy coil shocks. Most modern suspension does not use this diameter.
Product photos may show a smaller clamp as a placeholder. The actual 5/8″ version is significantly larger.
Technical Details & Compatibility
This clamp is designed to securely grip oversized 5/8″ damper shafts in a bench vise.
- Fits: Original FOX DHX RC4 (circa 2012)
- Use cases: Eyelet removal, main piston removal, rebound assembly service
- Not compatible: FOX DHX2, RockShox, Cane Creek, or any modern shocks
If your shock is newer than ~2013, this is almost certainly the wrong clamp.
Setup & Usage
- Clean the shaft thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol (multiple passes)
- No oil, grease, or residue on the shaft
- Wrap the shaft with a dry paper towel to increase grip and reduce marking
- Clamp with even bench-vise pressure; do not overtighten
- Apply heat before turning if threadlocker was used

Sizing Confirmation Tip
True 5/8″ shafts are rare.
If you are working on an older shock and are unsure, measure the shaft with calipers before clamping.
This clamp will not fit anything smaller.
Safety & Warnings
WARNING: Always fully depressurize both air and damper circuits before disassembly.
- Never clamp a pressurized damper shaft
- Oily or dirty shafts will slip and damage the clamp
- Using the wrong clamp size will damage both the shaft and the tool
- If it does not seat cleanly, stop and re-check shaft diameter
Old hardware is brittle. Excess force will snap parts before threads move.
