Negative Spring Compression Tool
Simple and strong tool to compress the sealhead when working on shocks with a negative spring.
What This Tool Does
This tool pushes the negative spring against the sealhead so you can set the shock correctly.
- Lets you set the correct IFP depth from the service manual
- Prevents the shaft from moving after pressurization
- Avoids incorrect oil volume and damper imbalance
Without compressing the negative spring, the shaft will extend after pressurizing, which changes the IFP depth and gives a wrong setup.
How It Works
- Place the tool on the sealhead
- Pull the shaft slightly and tighten the knob
- This compresses the negative spring fully
Two ways to use it:
- With 6-pin shocks (Vivid): mounts directly into the 6-pin wrench
- With pliers (Super Deluxe / Vivid Coil): use an 8" Knipex or similar
After bleeding, remove the tool, tighten the sealhead to spec, then set IFP depth.
Strong & Safe Clamping
- M8 metal screw + embedded metal nut
- No plastic threads → no stripping
- Textured knob → tighten fully by hand
High clamping force, no tools required.
No Damage to Parts
The screw does not press directly on the shaft.
- Uses a TPU interface between the screw and the rail
- TPU transfers the load evenly onto the shaft
- No marking, no slipping
This allows very high clamping force while staying safe on components.
Two Vise Options Included
- Vivid bore vise → circular seat for Vivid Air (fits around bumper / head)
- Flat vise → fits 12.7mm (1/2") shafts
Both work — choose based on your setup.
Compatible with most stroke lengths (50–75 mm).
Compatibility
- RockShox shocks with counter-measure / negative spring
- Vivid (Air & Coil)
- Super Deluxe
- EXT and similar designs
Designed to be fully universal for this type of damper.
Optimized to fit directly into our Vivid 6-pin wrench.
Tool Compatibility
- Works with Knipex 8" pliers (recommended)
- Also works with adjustable / crescent wrenches
Knipex is preferred for better grip and no slipping.
Safety
- Always release air and IFP pressure before opening a shock
- Follow your shock service manual
- See full instructions in our manual
