RockShox Motion Control + Air Shaft Rebuild Tool Kit

Complete tool kit for servicing both the Motion Control damper and the air shaft in RockShox base model forks. If your fork says “Select” or higher, this is not for you. This kit is made for forks with Motion Control open bath dampers: Pike, Yari, Revelation, Judy, Recon, 35 Gold/Silver, etc.

Included in This Kit:
  • Motion Control Mid-Valve Clamp (9/16" / 14.3 mm) : required to remove or install the damper sealhead
  • 10mm Shaft Clamp : for safely holding the air shaft during service
  • Dust Wiper Press (select the size when ordering)

Why It’s Different

The Motion Control damper is not like Charger or Grip. It is an open bath design, no bleed steps, no IFP. It stores oil directly inside the damper extension leg. That means:

  • No bladder, but very fragile internals (plastic compression head)
  • Oil fill must be extremely accurate
  • You need to pull it out very carefully with a straight rotation or it will break

 Air Shaft Rebuild Details

  • This works for DebonAir and DebonAir+ air shafts (check your fork model)
  • Use the 10mm clamp to hold the air shaft safely when removing the foot nut or bumpers
  • Apply very light grease (Slickoleum or SRAM Butter only), no excess

Use this chart for estimated oil volumes. For verified specs, always double check with RockShox manuals below.

Tips for Air Shaft Service:
  • Clean all shafts with isopropyl alcohol before clamping
  • Always remove old grease fully before applying new
  • Don’t overgrease

  • 24mm socket (to open top of Motion Control damper)
  • Circlip pliers (for lower damper shaft circlip)
  • Slickoleum or SRAM Butter
  • Suspension-specific oil (per manual spec)
