RockShox Charger RC + Air Shaft DIY Rebuild Toolkit
Everything you need to rebuild both the damper and the air spring on RockShox forks using the Charger RC damper. A perfect entry into MTB fork service, simple, effective, and confidence-building.
Need Seals?
This kit is compatible with ZEB, Lyrik, and Pike Select models from 2023 onward. It includes everything needed to fully rebuild:
If your tool uses a big-diameter shaft clamp (like 20mm or more), make sure you're clamping it properly.
See the full clamping guide here: How to Use a Big Diameter Shaft Clamp
If you have an older DebonAir air spring, you technically donât need any shaft clamps, but we include them anyway just in case. If you have DebonAir+, youâll need the included shaft clamp.
If your fork has ButterCups, it gets a little trickier⊠but youâve got this. Most forks with this damper donât use ButterCups anyway because itâs not the Ultimate model.
Like any air spring job: donât scratch the shaft, donât over-grease it, and take your time. This is a great first service job to get familiar with how forks work.
- Charger Combo Clamp : holds both the damper body and 10mm air shaft if needed!
- Dust Wiper Seal Press Tool : choose your model at the bottom of the page
These tools make it safe to disassemble your fork without damaging shafts or seals. All parts are designed for real-world home use with regular bench vises and hand tools.
- Use a cassette tool (link below) to open the Charger RC top cap.
- Refer to the SRAM service manual: Starts on page 148.
- Always open compression adjusters fully when reinstalling the top cap, the system will bleed itself after a few strokes.
- 10" Knipex Pliers : useful for removing top caps and clamps
- Park Tool Cassette Tool : required for damper top cap
- Essential Tools Starter Pack
- MTB Suspension Jargon for Beginners
- Always depressurize air before opening your fork
- Donât overtighten top caps or seal heads
- Never clamp directly on the shaft or stanchions
- Check compatibility if your fork has ButterCups
