RockShox Charger R Damper-Only Rebuild Toolkit
This is for the Charger R damper, a short-lived variant used mostly in 2020–2021 RockShox Select forks. It’s basically a Charger RC... but with no external compression adjuster.
The good news? It’s super easy to rebuild, because the internals are the same. It bleeds and fills like any other sealed RockShox damper, just without the adjustment knobs.

Clamping Tip:
If your tool uses a big-diameter shaft clamp (like 20mm or more), make sure you're clamping it properly.
See the full clamping guide here: How to Use a Big Diameter Shaft Clamp

Included in This Kit:
- Charger Combo Clamp : fits Charger R and RC
This is all you need to safely hold the damper during service. Clamp into soft jaws in your vise and follow standard bleeding procedure.
Bleeding Notes:
- Fill until oil reaches the bleed port
- Stroke slowly and evenly, do not push the damper shaft past the specified non-entering zone
- Refer to SRAM Service Manual page 72 for full Charger R manual and exact shaft stroke limits by fork and travel when you bleed the damper (same as Charger RC)
- Top cap installs with the same keyed tab and alignment method as all sealed dampers
Tips:
- This damper was never intended to be user-serviceable, but it absolutely is
- Oil changes alone go a long way — the internals last years with fresh fluid
- Use a luggage scale and our torque calculator to retorque components safely
- Compatible with ZEB, Lyrik, Pike forks from the 2020–2021 model years
⚠️ Warnings:
- Always depressurize your fork before disassembly
- Make sure you’re clamping the damper body, and clean it well with isopropyl alcohol before or it will slip forever!
- Follow correct fill level and stroke range for your fork travel
