ImpactCore Crank Shield

“I didn’t like normal crank protectors. They didn’t feel like they were absorbing anything, I could feel the hits straight through my legs.”

Designed by a physics engineering student and lifelong downhill rider, the ImpactCore Crank Shield fixes what other protectors miss. It’s made from thick 4.0 mm TPU 95A and engineered to flex and flatten under impact, acting more like a micro damper than a decorative cap.

Most crank tip protectors just deflect, they don’t absorb. ImpactCore can take in over 7 times more energy than thin hard plastic caps (Backed by physics later). You’ll still feel the hit, but the harsh, sharp “clank” is damped. On climbs or general trail riding, the difference is quite drastic.

Note: This part is 3D printed in black TPU. Expect slight texture from print layers and some minor stringing, especially inside. One side is usually smoother, just face that nice side outward. If you want flashy colors or smooth plastic, this isn’t it, go with the plastic thingies. It’s designed for protection, not looks. TPU 95A printing is tuned here for durability, not perfection. It's really hard to print as well so we really didn't go for fast production here.
⚠️ Pedal Removal Warning
Be extremely careful when removing your pedals. It's very easy to damage the threads and the threading is counter-intuitive.
  • Both pedals unscrew by turning them toward the back of the bike (watch the video and you will understand what I meant)
  • The threads are different on each side, each pedal only fits one crank arm
  • Only remove and install one pedal at a time to avoid confusion

Force Absorption
Dampens up to 1000 N (~102 kgf / 225 lbf) of perpendicular impact before it hits you legs hard, significantly more than typical crank guards.
Progressive Flex
The top is designed to flex and flatten during impact because the crank doesn't touch the tip from inside, spreading force over a larger area and reducing peak stress and increasing the damping modulus.
Secure Fit
Installation requires firm pressure. It’s intentionally snug to stay in place and function at full effectiveness.
Oversized Hole Design
20 mm diameter hole fits SRAM GX, NX, XO Carbon, and T-Type cranks. OneUp pedals are not supported.
