Öhlins TTX M.1 / M.2 Coil Shock Bleed Elbow

One-piece elbow adapter for hand bleeding the Öhlins TTX M.1 and M.2 Coil shocks. Fits over the factory outer plastic sleeve and allows the shock to remain completely full of oil during hand bleeding, without requiring a vacuum pump.

⚠️ Important notes (read before buying)
  • Make sure the factory outer plastic sleeve is installed before fitting the elbow.
  • This tool seals over the original plastic sleeve and may not seal correctly if the sleeve is missing.
  • The TTX uses a bladder system and does not use an IFP.
  • A dedicated M4 bleed fitting is not currently available.
  • The M4 bleed port may be compatible with some existing brake bleeding fittings, but this has not yet been fully tested.
What this tool does

The Öhlins TTX M.1 and M.2 Coil shocks can be difficult to hand bleed because the shock must remain completely full of oil throughout assembly. Unlike many monotube shocks, the TTX uses a bladder rather than an IFP, so there is no final IFP depth adjustment to remove excess oil after assembly.

This elbow creates a raised oil reservoir above the shock while it remains horizontal, allowing the damper to stay completely full during the hand bleed process. It also provides additional oil volume for pushing oil through the entire damper using the standard rubber glove technique.

The elbow installs directly over the factory outer plastic sleeve and creates a temporary extension above the shock during service.

For home mechanics performing a full rebuild, the tool can simplify the bleeding process and reduce the need for specialized vacuum equipment.

How to use

Unlike many monotube shocks, the Öhlins TTX uses a bladder instead of an IFP. Because there is no final IFP depth adjustment available, final assembly must be performed with the shock already properly bled.

  1. Install the bleed elbow over the factory plastic sleeve.
  2. Fill the shock and elbow with oil, then perform the rubber glove bleed technique while cycling the adjusters and damper.
  3. Continue bleeding until air bubbles are no longer visible.
  4. Install the bladder while attempting to displace as much remaining air as possible.
  5. Remove excess oil from the elbow and allow any remaining trapped air to migrate upward.
  6. Some users may wish to gently manipulate the bladder during this process to help release trapped air, although this procedure has not been fully tested.
  7. Install the seal head carefully, ensuring that no air is introduced during final assembly.
  8. Because there is no IFP depth adjustment available afterward, take extra care during final assembly to ensure all visible air has been removed before closing the shock.
Why this tool exists

Servicing an Öhlins TTX shock can easily cost more than $300 CAD in many areas. This tool was developed to give home mechanics a practical alternative.

Most of the shock can be serviced using common workshop tools. The bleeding process is typically the most challenging part, and this elbow was designed specifically to simplify that step.

No special shaft clamp is required to use this bleed elbow, and the base valve does not need to be removed.

Development of a dedicated M4 bleed fitting and additional TTX service tools is ongoing, but this bleed elbow already makes DIY rebuilds significantly more accessible.
