Compact, minimalist-looking chain silencer that keeps your drivetrain quiet on descents without getting in the way when pedaling.
What this upgrade does
The Magneto is a compact performance upgrade designed to reduce chain slap and noise.
It stabilizes the chain using strong neodymium magnets while keeping a very small and clean footprint on the bike.
It works where chain slap actually happens. Almost all of it comes from descending, and that is exactly where the chain sits closest to the Magneto. In the climbing gears the chain runs far enough away that there is zero contact, it cannot catch the chain there at all.
Result: less chain movement and a noticeably quieter ride on descents, without adding drag where you're working hardest.
How the design works
The Magneto holds the chain from below, through a soft TPU pad that sits between the magnets and the chain.
The pad does two jobs: it absorbs the impact when the chain jumps, and it keeps steel from hitting the magnets directly. The magnetic pull passes straight through it, so you get the holding strength without the noise of bare metal contact.
When the chain moves, the pad takes the hit and the magnets pull it back into position where it stays stable.
Two spare TPU pads are included with every Magneto. The pad is the only wear item on the tool, when it eventually gets chewed up, you swap it instead of replacing anything else.

Versions:
- Centered → standard setup
- Angled → for chainstays that sit far from the chain
- Super Thin → for bikes where the chain already runs very close to the chainstay in the 12th gear
Included spacers:
- 4 × 10 mm spacers
- 1 × 5 mm spacer, for fine adjustment
Spacers work with both the centered and angled versions. The Super Thin comes on its own with no spacers — it exists for bikes that have no room to spare. My IBIS HD6 is one of them, the chain sits very close. Other frames leave a lot more gap, and the spacer stack covers pretty much anything in between.
High pivot bikes: if the chain runs over the seat stay, the Magneto works great. If it runs under, it will not work, the chain moves away from the tool as you shift toward the small cogs.
Unusual frames with the chain routed under the rear triangle are untested. There is room to experiment, the mount is modular and adapts to a lot of layouts, but I can't promise a result there.
How to set it up
- Mount with two zip ties on the chainstay
- Place it around the middle of the chainstay (or slightly toward the rear)
- Set it in your smallest cog (highest gear)
- Adjust height and keep it as low as possible
- The chain should just start contacting it in descending gears 10+
Setup tips:
- If placed too high, it will grab too many gears
- Use the Angled version if your chainstay sits far from the chain
- Use Super Thin if clearance is very tight
- Start with more spacers than you think you need and work down, the 5 mm spacer is there for the last bit of fine tuning
Take a few minutes to dial it properly. The difference between a Magneto that sounds great and one that annoys you is almost entirely in the height adjustment.

This is the ultimate fitment testing kit. If you have more than one bike, or you're not sure how much room your chainstay leaves, the bundle takes the guesswork out, mount each one, see which sits best, and you're covered on spare pads for a long time.
Honest notes — what it feels like to ride
I'd rather you know this before you buy than find out on the trail.
In the climbing gears there is nothing to notice. The chain sits far enough from the Magneto that there is zero contact, so it cannot catch, drag, or tick while you're grinding uphill.
If you descend in 8th or 9th gear, the Magneto can catch the chain intermittently and that gets annoying. It is happiest when you're in the smaller cogs going down.
On flat ground, pedaling along in a middle gear rather than the biggest one, you can feel it catch whenever the chain goes slack. Under real load it disappears, but soft-pedaling on flats is where you'll notice it most.
For that reason it's not ideal for constant flat pedaling, city riding, or XC-style riding.
Personally, I love how my bike sounds with it going downhill and the trade-off is worth it to me. But it is a trade-off, and it depends on how and where you ride.
