DVO Fork - 50h Lower Leg Service Kit with Dust Wiper Replacement
This is the full 50-hour lower leg service kit for most DVO forks including Onyx, Diamond, Sapphire, and others. It adds dust wiper seal replacement to the standard oil change service. The new Onyx SL 38 is a bit different because it doesn't have the OTT air spring.
Don't forget to grease the insides of the dust wiper seals and the lower legs bushings before inserting the stanchions! Quite the trick to reduce stick friction and stanchion wear.
- Optional pair of 10mm shaft punches for knocking the damper and air shaft loose (experimental)
- If you have the new Onyx SL 38, you have a normal air shaft with no OTT Spring so you just need a soft mallet for the air side like fox.
- Dust Wiper Seal Press Tool for proper seal installation (select your model)
To find which dust wiper press tool you need, use our Dust Wiper Tool Finder .
- 18mm socket: for foot nuts
- Plastic or rubber mallet: to gently tap adjusters
- Isopropyl alcohol and lint-free cloths
- 25cc per side of 7.5wt fork oil (or equivalent)
- Air pump to re-pressurize fork
- Top Cap Tool (if removing top caps)
- How to use the dust wiper press tool
- Release air pressure and fully extend fork
- Loosen (but don’t fully remove) air and damper foot nuts
- Gently tap nuts or use punch to dislodge shafts and you should be able to pull on the lowers.
At 3:00 in this video, you can see the procedure used to strike the damper and air shafts into the lowers
This process matches the Onyx service video and the official DVO Diamond manual. Most DVO service manuals are Here but not all, you sometime just have the type your ''fork model service manual'' to find it directly on google.
⚠️ About the Shaft Punches:
The DVO manual uses punches to help remove the shafts after loosening the foot nuts. We include an optional pair of 10mm shaft punches, they're experimental, printed from reinforced polymer, and just $10 for the pair. If you try them, let us know how they work.
You can also skip them and just use a soft mallet.
The punches are not compatible with the inverted DVO Emerald. That fork uses a very simple system for service, see this video for the process. It needs almost no special tools.
