Digital STL | Air & Damper Side Removal Tools
This is the digital STL version of our Fox / Marzocchi lower-leg shaft drivers: a simple, easy-to-print set that replaces the two official Fox tools (398-00-681 & 398-00-682) used for lower leg service. They safely drive the air and damper shafts into the lower legs without damaging anything.
What You Get
- 3 × STL files:
- Air shaft driver
- Damper shaft driver
- TPU protective cover (fits both drivers)
- Use one on each side of the fork for full lower-leg service coverage.
They work exactly like the official drivers, just simpler and compact enough for a small suspension kit.
Why These Tools Work So Well
- Damage-free removal: impact spreads around the shaft, not through it
- Protects internals: prevents VVC & meter rod damage
- Compact design: air + damper drivers are lightweight and easy to print
- Optional TPU cover: absorbs mallet blows and extends tool life
Tested successfully on Fox & Marzocchi 34, 36, 38, and 40 mm forks, performs like the official tools without the $100 price tag.
3D Printing Details
- Material: PETG (recommended), or Nylon for pro use
- Nozzle: 0.4 mm
- Layer height: 0.20 mm
- Walls: 4
- Infill: 40–60%
- Supports: Not required
- TPU Cover: print in TPU 95A
Tip: PETG is perfect for home mechanics. PLA will be looser and wear faster.
You need a well-calibrated printer to do the threads. If you're not using a high-end printer (e.g., Bambu Lab), print slowly: 50 mm/s.
If the PETG threads don’t fit correctly:
- Too tight → scale to 101%
- Too loose → scale to 99%
Compatibility
- Fox & Marzocchi 34, 36, 38, and 40 mm forks
- Not compatible with Step-Cast or Taper-Cast forks
These STL tools replace the official Fox 398-00-681 (Air Shaft Driver) and 398-00-682 (Damper Shaft Driver).
