Digital STL | Caliper Bolt Retainer Nuts
Download the STL file and print your own set of retainer nuts. They look insignificant until the first time you drop all the brake hardware and lose it. Thread them on after removing your brake caliper and your entire bolt stack stays together, in the right order, every single time. No shipping, low cost, minimal footprint.
What You Receive
STL files for the retainer nuts, ready to slice and print.
- Thread: M6 (standard bike caliper bolt)
- Quantity: print as many as you want — two per caliper
- Print time: a few minutes each, almost no material
Same geometry as the physical part, tested on real bikes.
The problem they eliminate
- Lost washers: no more tiny parts falling behind the bench or into the grass.
- Spacer confusion: keeps the exact order you removed, no guessing at reassembly.
- Wasted time: no hunting for hardware or double-checking brake alignment later.
- Risky shortcuts: avoids threading bolts back into the frame or fork just to keep them safe.
How they work
Once the caliper is off, thread a retainer nut onto each bolt. Two or three turns is enough to capture the full stack of washers and spacers. The caliper can hang freely by the hose or be set aside without anything shifting or falling off.
Why you will use them every time
- Fast: on and off in seconds, no need to fully tighten.
- Reliable: holds everything securely.
- Consistent: your brake setup goes back together exactly as it came apart.
- Universal habit: once they are in your workflow, you will not skip them.
3D Printing Settings
- Material: PETG
- Layer height: 0.20 mm
- Walls: 3
- Infill: 25%
- Supports: None required
If the thread feels too tight: drop to 0.12 mm layers for cleaner thread detail, or scale the part to 101%.
Workshop & storage benefits
Perfect for suspension service, frame work, or long-term storage. You can remove the caliper early in the job and never think about the hardware again until final assembly. Everything stays together, clean, and ready to reinstall.
Pro tip
Print a few extra and keep a pair permanently in your main toolbox. They cost almost nothing in filament and save more time than most “big” tools. After a few services, they become automatic.
License & Fair Use
Personal-use license.
- Unlimited prints for yourself
- Printing for friends is fine (support appreciated)
- No resale of file or printed parts
