40mm Fork Stanchion Clamp Tool - For Fox 40 & Bomber 58

This clamp is made to hold 40 mm diameter stanchion tubes securely in a bench vise during service. Most commonly used with Fox 40 and Marzocchi Bomber 58 forks when working on the damper or air shaft after removing the stanchions from the crown.

Why You Need This

  • Double crown forks don’t connect both stanchions through the crown, once removed, the stanchion can spin freely.
  • Compression assemblies are often torqued tightly. You won’t be able to unscrew them by holding the stanchion by hand.
  • This clamp prevents rotation without scratching or damaging the surface, if used properly.

How to Use It Properly

  • Clean the stanchion thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol.
  • Wrap a clean layer of paper towel around the shaft.
  • Spray 1–2 times inside the clamp with isopropyl, it increases friction dramatically.
  • Place the clamp fully around the stanchion. Do not clamp across the middle with the stanchion parallel to the clamps. You must have full 360Β° surface contact, so it needs to be vertical or slightly diagonal.
  • Clamp in your bench vise gently but firmly. If it slips, stop and double-check your cleaning, you did something wrong.
Important: Even one grain of dirt can scratch your stanchion permanently. Clean carefully. Always inspect your clamp area before locking it down. I put a lot of warnings on the clamp because I am very afraid some people will not read anything and destroy their fork.

Compatibility

  • Fox 40 (all generations)
  • Marzocchi Bomber 58

If you're not sure what clamp size you need for another fork like a EXT VAIA or Cane Creek Helm mkII, use our Dust Wiper Seal Finder Tool. It's the same diameter as this clamp, so it'll show you exactly which one fits.
