27.2 mm Dropper Post Shaft Clamp
Built for 27.2 mm diameter dropper post shafts commonly found on XC and gravel bikes. This clamp provides a secure hold in a bench vise for cartridge and head service without damaging the thin wall construction.
Available in two versions at the same price: straight or angled 35°. Both use the same 360° clamping surface and hold identically — the only difference is how the post sits relative to your vise.
Straight: best if you have a big wide vise where you can clamp off to the side and let the post hang past the edge.
Angled 35°: best if you have a small vise, or one with a wide bottom casting that gets in the way of long straight parts. The angle sends the post off to the side so it clears the center of the vise instead of running into it.
Why You Need This
- 27.2 mm posts have thinner walls and are easier to crush with improper clamping.
- Stabilizes the shaft for safe disassembly of cartridges and head assemblies.
- Provides full 360° surface contact to protect the anodized finish.
- Whichever version you choose, the goal is the same: hold the post solid without fighting your vise for room.
⚠️ Warning
27.2 mm tubes are fragile, do not overtighten. If the post slips:
- Clean both the clamp and the shaft with isopropyl alcohol.
- Wrap the shaft in one layer of paper towel or shop towel.
- Re-clamp with even pressure, never crushing force.
- Never clamp over the collar, actuator, or cable entry.
Even a small grain of dirt can scratch anodizing permanently.
Angled version: set it in the jaws with the tilt running clear of the vise center before you close it, so you are not repositioning a thin-wall post under load.
