FAQ

FAQ

Are your tools made for professional shops?
Yes, 99% of our tools work in pro workshops.
Do your tools come with instructions?
Yes. Most tools link to a full guide or video. Visit the "First Time here?" section in the menus for everything you need.
What if I still don't know which tool I need?
Email support@shockwaveparts.com with a photo of your shock and we'll match the right tool to your model and year.
How do I know if I have the right tools?
If it's listed in the kit, it's the right one. We test all kits with real shocks before releasing them. If something doesn't fit, email us.
What's included in each kit?
Only the custom 3D-printed specialty tools. Common tools aren't included but are always listed on the product page. See: Essential Tools Starter Pack.
Why do some shock kits only have one or two tools?
Some shocks are that simple. We only make the specialty tools you can't easily get elsewhere.
What if I break a part?
Some parts are intentionally sacrificial — like sockets and clamps. Replacements are cheap and available. That's part of the design to keep servicing affordable.
What if my pin wrench starts bending?
Not a big deal unless it breaks. If it still works, keep using it. Replacements are cheap.
What if I broke the teeth on my air can wrench?
This usually happens when the wrench isn't pressed firmly or held flat. Press down hard and torque flat so the load is shared across all the teeth.
Can I use the 2023+ DB Inline Air Can Wrench on older Cane Creek shocks?
Yes, but placement matters. Make sure the middle 3 teeth fully sit in the notches and at least 2 outer teeth engage on each side. Keep it flat and press firmly.
Do you offer a warranty?
We guarantee all tools are functional on arrival. Breakage from improper torque or shop abuse isn't covered.
Can I use any shaft clamp for Float X2 shocks?
No. You need Float X2-specific shaft clamps that are stroke-specific. These shocks are tricky to rebuild — use the split socket method (or 14mm wrench for 2016–2020) to open the damper without removing the eyelet.
Do I really need the RockShox negative spring compression tool?
Yes. Without it, shaft displacement can mess with IFP depth and cause performance issues. Only skip it if you're an advanced home mechanic who can correct IFP depth manually.
Do I really need a torque wrench?
Not always. For tasks under 15 Nm, our luggage scale + wrench method works well. For higher torque or sealing-sensitive parts, a proper torque wrench is recommended.
Do I always need syringes and fittings to bleed a shock?
No. Most piggyback shocks can be bled with the glove technique. For harder-to-bleed shocks like the 2021+ X2, a custom bleed fitting helps a lot.
How often should I rebuild my shock?
If it's not leaking and feels good, not often. On coil shocks, a bleed + IFP reset after the season is usually enough. On air shocks, clean the air side and add ~3cc of 20wt oil annually. Replace dynamic seals once a year for hard riding, every two years for normal use.
What's the deal with all the spring rate calculators?
They're free because they help riders get better setups and reduce trial-and-error. They use real physics inputs, not just rule-of-thumb estimates.
Where do you ship from?
All orders ship from Quebec, Canada. Most North American orders arrive within 2–7 business days.
Do you offer international shipping?
Yes. If your country isn't listed at checkout, email support@shockwaveparts.com and we'll add it.
Are your plastic tools temperature-sensitive?
They work reliably from –20 °C to +75 °C. Avoid storing them in direct sunlight or hot vehicles.
How should I clean and store my tools?
Rinse with isopropyl alcohol, dry thoroughly, and store in a cool dry place. Avoid solvents like acetone.
Do you offer bulk or wholesale pricing?
Email support@shockwaveparts.com with your projected volume and we'll quote pricing.
Can I request a new tool design?
Email design@shockwaveparts.com with sketches or a description. If it fits, you may end up as the tester — usually just paying shipping.
Can I share my own service photos or tips?
Yes. Tag @Shockwavebike on Instagram or email your photos and we can feature them.
