Who We Are

Who We Are

I’ve had a bike under me for as long as I can remember. I started riding when I was about six or seven years old on a basic Intercycle bike, nothing fancy, but it gave me freedom and joy that stuck for life. By the time I was 10, I got my first real mountain bike: a Norco Sasquatch. Coil fork, cable brakes, no rear shock but I had so much fun, it had like a 180mm fork.. It wasn’t perfect, but I rode it everywhere and learned to fix it when it broke. That’s when I started to understand how bikes actually worked.

Later, I upgraded to a 2007 Norco Atomic, a real downhill bike with 200mm of travel and skinny 32mm stanchions. I rode it for 6 or 7 years, had no idea whatΒ  was doing when turning the knobs on the fork, most of the times just ended up cranking everything to max to say ''My forks maxed out'' to your friends thinking it makes you cooler. Anyway, these forks had barely any compression damping (or where just blown since day one) so you just had a huge plush fork and felt amazing when landing a jump.

That hands-on curiosity grew into a love for engineering and physics. I went on to study engineering physics and began designing my own tools to rebuild shocks because the real tools where too expensive! That’s whenΒ ShockWave Parts was slowly starting to become an idea in my mind.
