This affects only a very small number of springs. Examples include:

• Custom painted or powder-coated springs with a thicker-than-normal finish.
• Some ultralight titanium springs with a very thin coating.
• Certain lightweight racing springs that are slightly smaller than standard.

In these cases, one clip size may feel slightly too tight while the next size up feels slightly too loose.

If the clip almost fits but requires too much force, you can carefully make it slightly larger.

1. Warm only the jaws of the LARGE clip using a lighter or a small butane torch for a few seconds.
2. The plastic should become warm—not soft or melted.
3. Gently spread the jaws a VERY small amount.
4. Allow the clip to cool completely before testing the fit.

Repeat only if necessary. A tiny adjustment is usually all that's needed.

If even the Small clip doesn't grip the spring securely, you can make it slightly tighter.

1. Start with the Small clip.
2. Warm the jaws gently using a lighter or a small butane torch.
3. Carefully squeeze a little (We are talking 0.2 mm here) the jaws together a very small amount.
4. Allow the clip to cool completely before testing the fit.

Again, only a small adjustment is normally required.

• Never heat the clip while it is installed on the spring.
• Only warm the plastic enough to make it slightly flexible—do not melt it.
• Make small adjustments and test the fit often.
• If you accidentally damage a clip, simply replace it with one of the spare clips.

Newer CoilClip kits now include three clips of each size instead of two, giving you a spare if one ever gets damaged during adjustment.

Even if you don't have two matching clips left, it's perfectly fine to mix sizes—for example, one Small and one Medium.

As long as one clip grips the spring securely and the tracker stays firmly attached, mixed clip sizes work just as well.
