Why We Started Shockwave

Short version

We started Shockwave because MTB suspension service had become  super hard to do properly: manuals were cryptic, tool lists were unclear, tools were scattered across multiple stores, stock was unreliable, shipping was expensive, and DIY riders often gave up and delayed maintenance.

Before Shockwave, DIY suspension service was a mess

What it felt like trying to find the right tools
  • Cryptic manuals: tool requirements buried behind codes and part numbers, not clear “you need this” lists.
  • Endless searching: even after hours, you still weren’t sure you had every tool required.
  • Tools spread across websites: you had to assemble a kit by buying from multiple stores.
  • Expensive shipping: multiple orders meant multiple shipping fees, often higher than the tools.
  • Stock problems: many stores “list” tools that aren’t actually available to ship.
  • Unreasonable total cost: a basic DIY toolkit could quickly become a big bill.
The predictable outcome

Most riders either bought the wrong tools, bought tools twice, or just didn’t do the maintenance. Then the suspension wore out sooner and cost more to fix later or got replaced.

What we decided to change

The Shockwave's solution
  • Make it obvious what you need: clear kits instead of cryptic tool codes.
  • Explain it clearly: simple, practical information so you know what you’re buying and why.
  • Keep it in one place: reduce the “buy from five websites” problem.
  • Fair pricing: priced for DIY riders doing occasional service, not only for high-volume shops.
  • Trust the outcome: when you order a kit, you can be confident it’s the right one for the job.
One-sentence purpose

Shockwave exists to turn confusing suspension tool requirements into clear DIY kits with straightforward guidance, reliable availability, and everything in one place.
