Why We Paused Shipping to the U.S.
Why We Paused Shipping to the U.S.
We know a lot of riders in the U.S. want access to Shockwave Parts tools, and we would love to ship to you. Unfortunately, we’ve had to pause U.S. shipping for now. Here’s why:
Unexpected Costs & Delays
Even though we provided all the correct paperwork including proof of Canadian manufacturing, tariff codes, and the proper CUSMA/NAFTA documentation: U.S. Customs still added duties and fees (they probably didn't even look at the papers). In some cases, orders under $100 were charged almost $100 in extra costs.
Packages were also frequently held at customs, creating long and unpredictable delays. Even when we replied immediately to their requests, the process caused extra expenses and frustration for customers.
Not Sustainable for a Small Business
Shockwave Parts is a small, independent business. We don’t have the financial resources to absorb random charges or re-ship orders stuck at customs. Most of the time, the added costs were more than the value of the tools themselves. It simply isn’t sustainable for us to continue shipping to the U.S. under these conditions.
For Now, Shipping Is Paused
We truly wish things were different. Riders across Canada and worldwide can order our tools at fair, flat shipping rates but the U.S. remains the one exception. Until customs regulations and tariffs change, we can’t offer U.S. shipping without risking huge losses.
Looking Ahead
We hope that at some point, the U.S. will reconsider these rules and make it easier for small Canadian makers like us to serve riders across the border. If that happens, we’ll happily open shipping back up.
A Personal Note
We’re really sorry. We know this is disappointing if you’re in the U.S. and wanted to order. Please know it’s not a decision we made lightly. We hope to be able to ship to you in the future and in the meantime, thank you for your understanding and support.
